Spurs Manager Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not True Real Fans'

The Cottagers Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Increase Tension on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed goalkeeper Vicario were told afterwards "they cannot be real Spurs supporters" by boss Frank.

Tottenham let in two scores in the first initial moments to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their tenth Premier League at home defeat of the year.

But the main talking point was Fulham's second goal when the keeper gave away possession far beyond his area.

He ventured out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball near the sideline.

However, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italian spun and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Welsh midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the touchline measured at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario again, a number of Tottenham fans jeered him.

The team were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and again at the final whistle.

One of those booing sessions really angered Frank.

"I heard a few of our supporters apparently jeered the situation and jeered after, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals can't be real Spurs supporters that do that. Fair enough booing following the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are behind each other going forward."

Tete had handed the visitors a early lead prior to Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second-half showing.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the next goal was "totally preventable".

"I do appreciate the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the role the keeper is playing. He is a great team player, he is a real figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"He was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the decisive goal."

'It's Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario After the Match

Italy national team Vicario is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old said after the game that he had to take the feedback.

"That goal was a mistake of my own, I take accountability for it," he commented.

"The intent was to clear the ball long and I simply struck the ball in a poor way. That made an more difficult mountain to climb."

He said receiving jeers "comes with the game".

"I'm a big man, how can I respond?" he added. "We can't be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It's on the team to remain increasingly composed, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and poise to overturn results. Today is a bad loss and it's tough to take."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Went Back to the Line'

Despite Vicario's mistake, it was far from an simple goal for Wilson to score.

Actually it was the next longest-range Premier League score of the season – after Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which interestingly too came on Saturday.

Wilson said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an empty goal to aim for.

10 moments elapsed between the keeper exiting of his box and the midfielder striking – which was 5 moments following the kick.

"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was out of the area for a long time," he said.

"It amazed me not one of the defenders went back to the line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes sparked a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a little additional time. After that it was solely about trying to make the right contact and place it towards goal. I had a good sense, the moment it left my foot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Poor Run, All Appears to Go Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unacceptable - Frank

Although the keeper's error led headlines, this was an all-round bad performance for Spurs to extend their home woes.

The match was their tenth home loss of the year in the Premier League, a shared club record along with nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's old side the Bees and champions the Reds to play before the close of the year.

Just a single of those wins have occurred after Frank replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a mountain to overcome," said Frank.

"During in a poor run, all aspects seems to work against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a mistake from the keeper.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have suffered another match. Every game has a unique narrative, this game we lost in the early stages.

"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was much better and with luck something we can use to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are averaging 9.5 shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the Premier League – their poorest rates on record in a single season (dating back to 2003-04).

Former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the criticism," Murphy said. "He's accepted a high profile job at a major team with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.

"The performances at home have been poor and they have to improve {quickly|
