Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future following a further heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the club's poorest streak since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his team in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a spell such as this with performances this poor.”

He finished, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
