Football Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Premier League Forecasts
Arsenal's 10-game winning run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the global break, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, against AI, fans and a range of guests.
For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
The singer's latest record, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Football and Family Experiences
Olly is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a star of several charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my child or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer side," he said.
"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a period too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their attack is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be quite close, however. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
It smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
AI's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their past two matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.
West Ham's sole away victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously Forest coach.
So, what on earth do I predict here - can West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?
I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their past four matches.
My son told me to select Bees striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.
The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.
The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a danger.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it in reality turns out to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.
They have have lots of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.
As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was excellent. We have not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of October.
But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.
Considering the home side's home form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
Olly's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a hard one to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
