Eulogies Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to express about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has elapsed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the production, commenting that he could not remember "any day without mirth".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Fellow Artist
In a separate piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to bar the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate put a embargo on the files to limit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Fallout and Commentary
Following the tragedy, public individuals shared varying comments.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering controversial statements that were met with immediate backlash by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the critics recently. Speaking on his show, Rogan characterized the comments as "disappointing" and suggested they showed a worrisome lack of empathy.
Rogan concluded by suggesting that an adviser could have intervened when the decision to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
