Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

This update on his health follows the sports world shared sympathy for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
