American-Palestinian Teenager Released Following Nine-Month Period in Israel's Custody

A Palestinian-American teenager having endured 270 days in Israeli detention without charge was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 when he was arrested last February in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing while residing in Florida under suspicion of rock throwing toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, needed medical care for treatment immediately after release, family members reported.

They said he is pale, underweight, and experiencing medical problems developed during imprisonment.

Through an official statement, Mohammed's uncle expressed the family's "immense relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Currently, we're concentrating on getting Mohammed urgent medical care necessary for his recovery following exposure to harsh conditions and brutal treatment throughout his detention."

The state department said it would continue to provide consular support to Mohammed's family.

{"The Trump Administration gives utmost importance to the protection and welfare for United States citizens"," officials stated.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers had signed a letter to the state department and President Donald Trump, urging greater action to release him.

Mohammed's parent, with four children operating an ice cream shop from Florida, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations regarding stone throwing due to physical abuse.

He had not seen or communicated with his son following the detention, receiving updates exclusively what had happened to him through judicial records.

He stayed without charge in Ofer prison on the West Bank.

Additionally housing adult prisoners, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences including killings.

An estimated 350 Palestinian minors in security custody detained within Israeli facilities, according to the Israeli Prison Service.

Several lack formal charges while advocacy organizations, and international organizations, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, family representatives announced relatives would persist in advocating demanding accountability for their family member Sayfollah Musallet.

The dual national youth who the Palestinian health ministry said was beaten to death by settlement residents amid clashes in July.

At the time, military authorities reported authorities were looking into reports a Palestinian civilian had been killed.

The two cousins had worked together in the family ice cream shop from Tampa.

No one has been charged regarding Sayfollah's death.

"We expect the American government to protect our families," family representatives emphasized.
